Today, May 8, 2022, is Mother’s Day in the U.S. and most parts of the world.

It is a day to acknowledge the immense contribution of mothers to our families, economy and the broader society, which, unfortunately, is often overlooked.

Mothers’ contributions are invaluable. They do not only bear children but are the first teachers of every child. Traditionally, mothers are a big part of life: from driving the kitchen to taking care of laundry, to keeping the family intact, they are superheroes.

A 2014 study in the U.S. estimated a mother’s contribution to her family at $100,000 per year and that a mother who stops working for 15 years to raise children loses $1 million. Talk about that!
