In 2025, the Kectil Program reached a historic milestone by launching the Kectil Community Projects Initiative for the very first time. What began as an ambitious idea quickly grew into a powerful global movement, proving that when young leaders are trusted with responsibility and purpose, they create real and lasting change.

During this inaugural year, 155 teams came forward to present their community-driven projects, engaging over 1,500 participants and volunteers across different regions of the world. From small local initiatives to large-scale social interventions, these projects addressed some of today’s most pressing challenges—mental health, access to education, environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment, food security, dignity, and inclusion. Each project carried a unique story, deeply rooted in the needs of its community, yet united by a shared vision of impact and service. Projects emerged from diverse cultural and geographic contexts, reminding us that leadership knows no borders. Initiatives such as Beyond Stigma: Fostering Mental Well-being and Inclusive Communities, THE GREEN CODE PROJECT, SeedRise: Empowering Women, Zero Plastic Mission, Kibera Eco Warriors, Every Child Deserves Education, Raíces Vivas: Juventud, Cultura y Territorio, E-zakovat | Where Knowledge Becomes Power, Promoting Menstrual Hygiene among Primary School Girls in Bweyogerere, and Restoring Dignity, Saving Lives, and Building Hope in Zamfara State, Nigeria—along with many others—demonstrated creativity, courage, and a deep commitment to sustainable change. To recognize excellence and dedication in this first-ever initiative, Kectil introduced a new system of awards and certifications. Project winners received the Kectil Community Impact Award for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, while 15 outstanding projects were supported through the Kectil Community Project Development Award. Every participant received a Certificate of Participation, and team leaders were honored with a Certificate of Leadership, recognizing their vision, responsibility, and ability to mobilize others for good. More than numbers or awards, the 2025 Kectil Community Projects Initiative became a testament to what is possible when leadership development is combined with action. It showed that Kectil is not only a space to learn about leadership—but a platform to practice it, to serve, and to create measurable impact in real communities. This first launch is only the beginning.
