On January 13, 2024, the city of Bengaluru became a powerful meeting ground for young leaders from across the country as Kectil hosted the Kectil India Youth Leadership Conference 2024 at the prestigious Shangri-La Bengaluru. Bringing together close to 200 delegates, 15 speakers, and 10 knowledge sessions, the conference stood as a vibrant celebration of youth leadership, global citizenship, and collective action.
This was the very first regional conference organized by Kectil in India and the conference reflected Kectil’s long-standing mission to nurture leadership potential among youth in developing countries. The India conference served as a powerful regional platform where innovation, leadership, cultural understanding, and social responsibility converged in one immersive experience.
A Vision for Youth Leadership
Built on the belief that young people are not just future leaders but present-day changemakers, the conference aimed to equip participants with the tools, mindset, and networks required to drive meaningful transformation in their communities and beyond. The thematic focus of the conference spanned critical global and societal priorities, including:

The day opened with a warm Welcome Address by Sherry Knowles, Founder of Kectil, setting the tone for a day rooted in purpose, inclusion, and leadership responsibility. This was followed by “Highlights of the Kectil Journey” by India Regional Coordinator and Kectil Board Member Ashwathy Venugopal, offering participants a deeper understanding of Kectil’s global vision and evolving impact.
Participants were then guided inward through powerful reflective sessions such as “Discover Your Leadership Persona” led by Sherry Knowles, and “Delve Within – Who Am I?” facilitated by Lenaa Kumar, author and film personality, helping young leaders explore identity, values, and purpose as the foundation of authentic leadership.
The conference seamlessly transitioned from self-discovery to action-oriented leadership through the panel “Step Up to Lead the World – Practical Tips for Global Leadership,” featuring Sangeeth Varghese, Wycliffe Guguni, Tena Pick, Vanshica Kant, and moderated by Ashwathy Venugopal. This session grounded global leadership in real-world practice, offering participants concrete pathways to engage with global challenges.
Nation-building took center stage in “Take Charge – Changemakers that Build the Nation,” with speakers Swati JM, David Joseph Menezes, and Eashita Maheshwary, moderated by Janhavi Shukla, spotlighting how young leaders can contribute meaningfully to India’s development story.
The post-lunch sessions focused on innovation and leadership in action. “Change the World – Innovating for the Environment” brought together Lennox Omondi, Arkesh Kedar, Ankit Alok, and moderator Amara Ambica, highlighting youth-driven solutions for environmental sustainability. This was followed by “Story of an Entrepreneur – Elevating Yourself into a Leader,” where Joseph Babu shared a deeply personal leadership journey, bridging entrepreneurship with purpose-driven leadership.
The later sessions amplified youth voices through “Your Voice Matters – Getting the World to Listen,” featuring Rashmi Shetty and moderated by Janhavi Shukla, reinforcing the power of communication, advocacy, and narrative in leadership.
The day culminated in a group activity session led by Wycliffe Guguni and Risaldher Ali, translating learning into collaboration, trust-building, and collective problem-solving—bringing the conference full circle from reflection to action.
