After attending our recently concluded Kectil 2019 Atlanta Youth Leadership conference, Kectil 2018 Colleague Ashwathy Venugopal was featured in six newspapers, both national and regional dailies.
According to Ashwathy, “My cousin was really proud of my association with Kectil Program, so he reached out to a local news correspondent. The correspondent called me up while I was in Atlanta and I shared the information with him through WhatsApp. He published it in an online newspaper, which happened to be the e-paper of a leading local daily. This news came out on July 26. After seeing this, agents from 6 other newspapers including 2 leading National dailies reached out to me for quick interviews. Now I have started getting so many queries regarding the Kectil Program and I am able to reach out to a lot of young people (many outside my direct circle of influence) and coach them to how best they can apply, participate, and utilize the power of the Kectil Program to drive social impact initiatives locally.”
Ashwathy will be attending a function called by her area’s Member of Parliament to honor her for being part of such an International platform. “He wanted to encourage more youth participation in leadership roles. This event will serve as a kickoff for such a discussion. It will also allow me to get a platform to speak of my experience as a Kectil Colleague. I am hopeful this program will also get additional media coverage which will allow me to spread the word further about Kectil Generation.”
We are proud of Ashwathy for the recognition she has received. We are also thankful to her for helping us shine a light on the Kectil Program and the importance of having more youth join the Kectil Generation and make the change our communities need.
We have shared with you links to the online versions of some of the articles published about her.
